Your role at Orbit.

7 month contract available
We are looking for a capable and experienced individual to advocate for us within a court setting.

This role will be based in Midlands and would involve covering court locations in such as Coventry, Warwick and Worcester.

Its worth noting the Income team work collaboratively and the team support each other across South, Midlands and East.


Working within the wider income team, you will prepare for and represent us when we must proceed in a legal capacity.

From preparing detailed court documentation to dealing with queries from legal representatives on the day, this is a fast paced, varied role for the right person.

We are ideally seeking for someone with a housing background within debt recovery. You will have managed arrears cases both over the phone and / or face to face. You will be robust, pragmatic and professional in your approach. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to articulate a clear message in challenging circumstances.

You will be flexible in your approach to work and be able to travel to meet the requirements of the role.


What will help you make a difference.

  • Excellent numeracy, literacy and communication skills.
  • Experience of dealing with high risk arrears case management and performance case reviews
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A good understanding of domestic budgeting, debt management, welfare reform and benefit regulations
  • Understanding of housing law, legislation, CPR for both mandatory and discretionary possession grounds.
  • Experience in dealing with and / or understanding, court etiquette, case law, court directions & Equality Act particularly in relation to debt recovery including the county court process.
  • An understanding of best practice in arrears collection and of related legal issues
  • Experience in income collection and recovery at all levels
  • Experience in court representation
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work unsupervised, with a proven record of accomplishment and delivering results
  • Experience of paper administration including summary reports and witness statements preparation
  • Experience of providing advice to the public
  • Ability to represent the association to external agencies
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Must be willing and able to travel to meet the requirements of the role own transport is essential.
  • Willing to work flexibly to meet the requirement of the role
