Term Time Only, Monday - Thursday 8am - 4pm, Friday 8am to 3.30pm

Total hours per week: 37 hours a week


Annual wage
£9,254.44

Please note that you will work 39 weeks and get paid for 43 weeks (includes annual leave). It is a term time only role, so you will get a pro-rata amount of the salary advertised. Your weekly salary is £177.97, and your salary will be annualised.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Main Duties:

  • Act as first point of contact for all visitors to the school and ensure that they are dealt with in a professional manner and in line with the school's agreed procedures and safeguarding policy.
  • Assist with updating the school website, social media and SIMS database.
  • Operate the entry intercom and ensure that all visitors (including contractors) and students arriving late or leaving early comply with school signing in procedures.
  • Maintenance of Reception ensuring area is kept in a clean and tidy fashion.
  • Operate switchboard and take messages, deal with routine enquiries and reroute to appropriate member of staff.
  • Pass items brought in by parents to Student Support Centre.
  • Check and sign for deliveries to the school. Sort incoming post and distribute as necessary. Maintain log for receipt of examination papers and log certificates issued to exstudents.
  • Welcome and direct supply staff, ensuring they have necessaryID and paperwork for the day.
  • Use Outlook to book meetings for staff/visitors.
  • Support the Office Manager with production of whole school mail shots, reports etc. Send correspondence to parents using Schoolcomms system. Generate labels and letters.
  • Maintain the free school meals register and issue FSM canteen cards to students.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of office stationery and reorder consumable as required.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
  • Carry out any duties commensurate with grade as directed by the Office Manager, Headteacher or VIAT Executive Management Team

Support for the Trust:

  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to the relevant lead.
  • To contribute to overall ethos, work and mission statement of the Trust.
  • To undertake broadly similar duties commensurate with the level of the post as required by the Headteacher/Trust Management Group.
  • Participate in the school's appraisal process.
  • Participate in training/learning activities/performance development as required.
