Salary:
£58,000-65,000 depending on experience

Hours:
Monday - Friday, 42.5 hours per week

Syntech Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a highly successful business catering to various industries such as Construction and Waste. We are seeking a motivated and skilled Surveyor/Estimator to join a reputable company.

About the Role

As an Estimator/Surveyor, you will be in charge of securing and providing commercial support for project delivery, from tender preparation to final account.

You will collaborate closely with project teams and support functions to ensure successful project delivery, fostering strong relationships with clients and the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit tenders for earthworks and enabling works projects
• Analyze tender documents to ensure a comprehensive understanding of client requirements
• Conduct site visits to evaluate project complexity and logistical constraints
• Produce sub-contractor tender packs and negotiate with specialists
• Develop outline method statements for tender submissions
• Take off quantities from drawings to generate accurate tender prices
• Create tender programs and cost plans, identifying and managing commercial risks
• Prepare detailed tender breakdowns to meet client specifications
• Oversee the handover of secured projects to the operations team
• Maintain precise work winning reports
• Prepare payment applications, including valuations and claims
• Agree on interim payment amounts with clients and track payments
• Develop project budgets in collaboration with management
• Manage the monthly reporting/CVR process
• Source subcontractors, assess quotations, place orders and handle payments
• Prepare concise commercial reports reflecting project performance and risks/opportunities

About you

• HNC or degree qualification in a construction-related field (preferred)
• Membership of a relevant professional body (preferred)
• Full UK driving license
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or professional qualification (MRICS or MCIOB) (preferred)
• Extensive experience in an estimating role within the earthworks and enabling works sectors
• Knowledge of earthworks or enabling works methodologies
• Strong commercial acumen with outstanding communication skills
• Highly motivated with a sharp attention to detail
• Effective teamwork and communication skills at all levels
• Proficient in JCT Standard Forms of Contract and similar
• Experience working under pressure
• Proficient in MS Office suite and financial systems
• Experience in a QS role within earthworks and enabling works (preferred)
• Experience in subcontractor procurement
