The Post

The post holder will form part of the DSDC team, based in Faculty of Social Sciences, which is an international centre for knowledge exchange and research impact dedicated to improving the lives of people with dementia.

The primary focus of the role is to provide administration support to DSDC regarding public relations and external communications (managing the DSDC Social Media Accounts, Monthly Newsletters.

Press Statements, Client relations), as well as dedicated project administration support (managing the DSDC website, training bookings and booksales, liaising with Graphics & Print on DSDC publications and coordinating input from external design consultants for training animations, infographics etc.)

Description of Duties Management of Digital Assets, Figure Reporting / Data Analysis**- DSDC Website (Squarespace / Google Analytics)

  • Manage content
  • Write / source / create new content, including articles
  • Add / remove pages
  • Manage user journey / experience
  • Liaise with relevant contacts re issues Reporting
  • DSDC Information Hub Website (WordPress / Google Analytics)

Management of Publications (Digital and Print)

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to HND level or equivalent experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Commercial awareness
  • IT literate
  • Experience of managing projects/events
  • An understanding of communication and public engagement/relations strategies and experience of delivering communications
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write concise and informative reports
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deal with conflicting deadlines
  • A high level of initiative, personal judgement, flexibility and selfmotivation
  • Good decision making skills with an innovative and proven approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work with and engage effectively with a range of different stakeholders

Desirable Criteria

  • Qualification in Events Management, Communications, PR or Journalism
  • Knowledge and understanding of Dementia issues
  • Knowledge of the HE sector and the student experience agenda
  • Experience of working across a complex multidisciplined faculty or similar environment
  • Experience of communication and public engagement work
  • Experience of managing a communications project or working in a communication team
