About the role:


To efficiently answer and relay incoming calls and to receive visitors in such a way as to promote both a welcoming and professional image of the Company.


  • Greet and welcome all visitors, check whether they have appointment and ensure the signingin procedure is adhered to.
  • Maintain and update staff database to include leavers and joiners.
  • Use company software to enable entry access for North Thames employees when required.
  • Small amount of liaison with Security Team during handover, updating security book with any scheduled out of hours contractor visits.
  • At all times, keeps Reception area tidy and presentable, ensuring that newspapers and magazines are neatly folded and displayed.
  • Ensure that deliveries are redirected to Facilities, on occasion accepting deliveries into the Reception area and distributing to where required
  • First thing each day, listen to any answerphone messages and relay messages as necessary.
  • Promoting a good image of the Company in terms of personal appearance and courtesy to customers, suppliers and the general public.
  • Keeps diary of switchboard faults and advises I.T. Department.
  • Be aware of role in fire/evacuation, suspicious package procedures and action as necessary in cases of emergency.
  • Assist other departments with administrative tasks as and when required.

About you:


  • Previous experience gained in the role of receptionist.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Basic numeracy and good literacy skills.
  • Good communication and ability to communicate with internal staff and external customers/suppliers.
  • Excellent telephone manner.
  • Well presented
