I am currently seeking an experienced Account Assistant to join the accounts team of a law firm based in central Huddersfield.
This role is ideally suited to someone with previous experience of working within an accounts function, you will be highly numerate with a strong eye for detail.
This is a busy role that will require you to manage all financial transactions generated by the law firm, ensuring all transactions are managed within the SRA's accounts rules.
Duties will include:
- Process all transactions for the law firm and provide general accounts assistance to the group finance team.
- Cashiering, banking, and raising ad hoc cheques
- Preparing proposed payments lists for BACS and CHAPS payment runs
- Preparation of weekly client/office account reconciliation and investigating differences
- Preparation of weekly client ledger reconciliations
- Liaising with the Compliance Officer and finance team, reporting any breaches and developing risk register and controls
- Liaise with fee earners and support staff to ensure finance processes are embedded
- Working in a fast paced, busy environment
- Being able to prioritise work loads
- Investigating and resolving any balances on the ledgers after the files have completed
- Bank reconciliation/Customer Billing
- General Administration and assistance to the fee earners and staff within the finance department
- Experience of working with Eclipse Proclaim Management Software is desirable but not essential
- Previous experience working within a finance department of a law firm is desirable but not essential
- Experience of working to SRA Accounts Rules is desirable but not essential
- The ability to work well under pressure and towards tight deadlines
- Strong organisational skills
- Highly numerate
- Ability to work to a high level of accuracy with an eye for detail
- Good communication and customer service skills
- The ability to communicate professionally at all levels within the firm
- Good time keeper
- A good team player, but also the ability to work on own initiative
- Good data input skills
- Intermediate to advanced Excel Skills
- Flexible approach to work

£21,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
