Production Supervisor


The
Production Supervisor oversees the shop floor production operations and is responsible for day-to-day management of production activities at the direction of the Forge Manager.

In addition, the production supervisor supervises, trains, and mentors a team of operators and is responsible for the performance of defined product lines.

Sets a good example for others to follow.

The role also requires the individual to run production shifts ensuring Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity and KPI targets are achieved.

The role has responsibility for circa.50 direct reports.

- (week 2) Monday to Thursday 2.00pm to 10.00 pm and Friday 12.00 pm to 6.00pm


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


To ensure that production areas are run in a safe manner as first priority - Encouraging operatives to raise safety concerns.


  • To ensure quality products are produced at all times ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice including line clearance and route card accuracy. If errors occur, ensure rootcause analysis is carried out in a timely manner to avoid any repeats.
  • Follow standard work routines ensure all resources are deployed correctly to achieve Master Production Schedule and customer requirements.
  • Analysis of productivity on a daily basis to ensure staff are achieving their stipulated targets. This will include proactive communication with people who are achieving targets and those who are not. The supervisor is the first point of contact for problem resolution. Should the problem not be fixed in a timely manner, this should be escalated to the Forge Manager.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities covering but not limited to health and safety, quality (scrap and rework reduction), productivity improvement.
  • The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customerdriven innovation and a winfirst culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Responsible for understanding the Tecomet Quality Management System (QMS). Effectively maintains the quality system.
  • Knows follows and enforces all safety requirements.
  • Supervises a team of employees to meet or exceed defined Quality requirements and Productivity goals.
  • Promotes a healthy team environment, disciplines appropriately rewards extraordinary performance and resolves conflicts quickly and effectively.
  • Works with underperforming team members on improvement plans.
  • Responsible for adhering to the production schedule using available resources.
  • Works closely to hold all Production team members accountable for meeting performance standards and expectations.
  • Exercises excellent judgment and initiative in resolving complex problems.
  • Capable of managing the startup, operation, adjustment to proper parameters, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and cleaning of the equipment.
  • Promotes a continuous improvement culture.
  • Facilitates routine troubleshooting, with support resources as necessary.

Qualifications

Educational/Training Requirement:


  • ILM Level 3 to
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Qualification
  • Lean/Six-Sigma working knowledge.
  • Strong machine/fabrication/manufacturing background.
  • Demonstrated plant leadership skills

Experience:


  • 2+ years production supervisor experience
  • 5+ years related Industrial experience, education and/or training. High Precision machining experience preferred. Medical device or aerospace experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a forging environment, (presses & stamps)would be beneficial
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 ISO 9002 & AS 9100 preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Have experience in Lean Manufacturing and standard work routines including 5S, Gemba, Kan Ban, Poke Yoke, Single Minute exchange of dies etc.
