    Default job background
    Description

We are looking for a new Contract and Commissioning Officer to join our experienced and supportive all age Contract and Commissioning Team in Adult Social Care.

This is a full-time permanent post and will work in a hybrid way, with a minimum of 2 days in the office at Times Square, Warrington. You will be part of a team of three Contracts and Commissioning Officers reporting to the Older People's Contracts and Commissioning Team Manager.

We invest over £80m each year in care and support services for adults across Warrington. The successful post holder will lead on the residential and nursing contract portfolio of Older People commissioned services. The post holder will undertake a range of activities as part of the commissioning life cycle, from population needs assessment, service development, market shaping, procurement and contract management activities such as compliance visits, engagement with stakeholders and monitoring contract requirements. You will also be required to lead on or contribute to other development projects and opportunities to improve outcomes for individuals and quality of services.

Over the next 2 years, there are significant changes and developments associated with Older People's services due to the Social Care Reform White Paper: People at the Heart of Care. There will be many opportunities for you to make your mark and be part of the change.

As an individual you will need the right values, excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to break down complex issues and processes into manageable and deliverable activity. You will need to be confident enough to set clear expectations for a range of colleagues and partners. Our future success will be dependent on working collaboratively and co-producing new responses to local challenges. We expect all our work to be informed by the voices of those that use services and you will need good communication skills to engage with a range of people. There is a requirement to travel to providers and partners as part of the role.

You will need to be able to establish and grow positive relationships with partners inside and outside the Council including our care home providers; this means you will be involved in managing market pressures and capacity, working routinely with providers and partner agencies. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of Local Government and preferably within a social care setting, plus experience in a commissioning and contract management role.

If you are interested in the role, please get in touch for an informal discussion and contact: Carol Dove, Contract and Commissioning Team Manager on or .

If you are applying for the role, please ensure that you use the 'additional information' section in the application form to describe how your knowledge, skills and experience meets the essential criteria for the role as detailed in the person specification. This information will be used to short-list applicants for interview.

    Key Dates

Short-listing will take place on the week commencing 6 May 2024 and interviews will be held the 14/15 May 2024, with the successful candidate to start as soon as possible.
