Your new role

Southend Council are looking to appoint a 22.2 hrs per week, temporary Habilitation Officer.


The newly appointed Officer, under the guidance of the ATVI, will respond to individual needs and requests as appropriate and support in a variety of settings.

The Visual Impairment Service follows the guidance of Quality Standards in Education Support Services for Children and Young People with Visual Impairment.

The hours for this position are flexible, there are no weekend hours.

What you'll need to succeed


To be successful in this position, you must have a a specialist qualification in Visual Impairment Rehabilitation or the equivalent.


You need to have a knowledge of child development, multiple disabilities and knowledge of specialist areas, including assessment, programmes and strategies.


You will need to have proven success in working in mainstream/special early years, primary or secondary settings with the ability to delivery training to different audiences.

Along with your effective communication skills, you will have the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and deliver presentations.


Within this position, you are required to have First Aid and also Food Hygiene certificates. If you don't have these on submission, please be aware, if offered, you will be required to have these 1 day training courses in place by the time you start the role.
