Overall Purpose


As Inclusion and Wellbeing Officer for the Academy, you will support the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) in cultivating an inclusive learning environment within the Inclusion and Wellbeing Hub.

You will support a number of students at the Academy with complex SEN (Special Educational Needs), with a specific focus on SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) issues.


  • Plan, teach and assess intervention programmes for individuals or small groups of students
  • Prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment
  • Undertake student registration of a class as required
  • Monitor the attendance of SEN students and intervene where appropriate
  • Provide a safe contact for nominated SEN students
  • Provide SEN administration duties relevant to the role
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the SENCo as directed
  • Prepare and deliver parenting groups
  • Liaise with primary schools regarding the transition of SEN and vulnerable students
  • Liaise with teachers / Progress and Achievement Leaders / Subject Leaders / SENCo regarding students' progress
  • Help students to reintegrate into the Academy after periods of absence related to mental health or medical concerns
  • Provide support for students with significant wellbeing needs (EG
  • Trauma, Mental Health, Medical, and Attachment Issues)
  • Ideally, you will have the ability to undertake some Maths, English and Science tuition (desirable, not essential)
  • Effectively manage student behaviour and any other immediate issues or emergencies that arise in accordance with academy policy.
  • Assist the Pastoral Team in liaising with parents including record keeping
  • Coordinate reduced timetables and reintegration packages for identified students
  • Transitional support be available at key transition times before lessons, after break, after lunch and after school
  • Provide some break and lunchtime duties to support students
  • Actively promote the South Axholme Mindset of 'Resilience'

Salary:
£22,785.00 per year

  • Certificate of Higher Education (preferred)

Experience:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
