A new opportunity has arisen in the OPAT team for a full time Specialty PA to support our well-established and expanding team.

The position will be based at the City Campus Hospital.


Working as part of a team the post-holders will provide high quality administrative service to consultants ,nurses and their teams.

Main duties of the job


You will be a conscientious and enthusiastic team player with excellent organisational and communication skills and be well motivated and reliable.

You will be able to understand and accurately convey verbal and written information and be able to remain calm under pressure.

You will be able to work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of a busy department.

Ensure all clinical correspondence is typed and processed within specified timescales. Completing or escalating actions as required.

A knowledge of medical terminology is desirable. You will also be able to prioritise your workload with constantly changing demands, to meet agreed deadlines.

Use your own initiative and respond to queries within and outside of the Organisation with a professional manner to patients, relatives and staff.

The post holder will manage the day to day activities for a delegated number of consultants within the OPAT Service at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, in accordance with Government Access Targets and Trust's Access Policy.

Also ensuring that there is an efficient and effective use of available resources at all times.

They will co-ordinate the consultants virtual ward rounds along with supporting the consultants in there day to day duties.

The post holder will also play a key central role within the services and is required to work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients and the general public.

Responsible for the production of discharge summaries, clinical papers and material for publication from either audio or copy typing.
Use judgement and initiative to prioritise the importance/urgency of particular requests within defined guidelines
Undertake daily peer audit of clinical correspondence to ensure a high standard of accuracy and quality of work.
Ability to exchange sensitive or contentious information with diplomacy and in a confidential manner.

Be responsible for sending blood form, chasing appointments for other areas and any other admin

Education

Essential criteria

  • 5 GCSE C> including Maths and English
Desirable criteria

  • NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or similar
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous or current admin experience
  • Experience of working in a team
Desirable criteria

  • Previous NHS work
- knowledge of NUH computer systems

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria

  • Must be able to clearly and accurately convey information verbally to different audiences
  • Must be able to handle distressed or aggressive patients
Planning & organisation skills

  • Demonstrates an ability to organise own work schedule

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
