PURPOSE OF THE POST:

30 hrs per week - days & times to be agreed

The rate for the above job is £ pro rata to £21,000 per annum


To engage with the local community and support them to live more active lifestyles and encourage them to become involved in volunteering to make their community more active.


Working at the heart of our communities and integrating with colleagues across the organisation, voluntary and community sector partners and statutory organisations you will encourage and support individuals, putting people in the lead, and recruiting volunteers to encourage residents to be more active including signposting to existing physical activity provision and establishing new physical activity opportunities.

You will help to build community confidence which will enable better access to physical activities - this will help to achieve a positive impact in people's lives and develop a sense of wellbeing and belonging.


Main Duties

  • To promote the benefits of physical activity in all interactions with the community.
  • Connecting with individuals of the community by telephone and in person in green and local spaces, providing them with a safe space to share and be heard.
  • Work to the Asset Based Community Development principles focusing on what is strong and
    not what is wrong, putting people in the lead, encouraging, empowering and facilitating new community activities to be formed and provide support as required.
  • Support individuals with accessing transport to attend clubs and activities.
  • Support individuals to access local training opportunities.
  • Building up friendship connections by Introducing people via phone or face to face for friendship connections and buddying opportunities.
- _Signposting_and information - connecting to local opportunities to be more active. Supporting the identification of opportunities to be active in and around the home, neighbourhood and local community, as well as green and blue space connection.

  • To maintain accurate records.
  • Supporting individuals to become more active by facilitation of 1:2:1 walks and 1:2:1 bike rides
  • In partnership with the CVST Volunteer Coordinator, encourage members of the community to become volunteers within a physical activity framework eg become a walk leader volutneer. To start giving back to their community through volunteering which has been proven to build selfesteem, confidence, and happiness.

General (all CVST staff)

  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies and practices, including undertaking research.
and attending appropriate training courses as required.

  • To meet with and report to the HILL manager on a regular basis.
  • To adhere to and promote secure procedures regarding personal data and data protection.
  • Promote equal opportunities, equality, diversity and inclusion in line with the organisation's Equality and Diversity Policy.
  • To adhere to all of CVST's operational policies and procedures including but not limited to Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety, Safeguarding and Financial Systems.
  • Work with the team to ensure that risk assessments are in place for events and activities relating to the programme.
  • To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the work role, for health and safety in the workplace.
  • Attend and participate in staff and team meetings and other CVST meetings as appropriate.
  • To work from various locations across the district including CVST's Clacton Hub, 22 Rosemary Rd, Clacton on occasion.
  • Attend all mandatory training (online or inhouse) as necessary.
  • Positively represent and promote CVST to external agencies.
  • Undertake any other duties and tasks appropriate to the post as may be required from time to time.
  • CVST reserves the right to amend this job description as necessary, after consultation with the
post holder to reflect changes in or to the job.

£17,027.00 per year
