An ABA tutor is required to support a 4 year old girl with a suspected diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Stoke-on-Trent.

THIS ROLE IS SELF-EMPLOYED_


Responsibilities:

As an ABA tutor you will provide excellent ABA teaching to a young child who shows traits of ASD.

You will work within family home setting and will be responsible for the instruction, data collection, resourcing and personal care needs of the child.


You will work under the instruction of board certified behaviour analysts (BCBA) who will design the programme and monitor data collected on an ongoing basis.

Monthly supervision is provided by the ABA Consultant at the family home where progress of the child and the instruction of the tutor will be reviewed.


Experience
The family are looking for an individual who has experience in the following areas:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as an ABA Tutor working with children with autism spectrum disorder
  • Experience working with young children
  • Experience of working with children and/or people with special needs
  • Experience/knowledge of safe handling techniques
  • Commitment to the principles of ABA, education and continuing professional development
  • Understanding of child development
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding and personal commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Skills

  • Good communication both verbal and written
  • Able to communicate effectively across multiple professionals
  • Able to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Willingness to learn and develop knowledge in applied behavioural analysis
  • Good data collection and analysis skills
  • Adaptable to changes
  • Good organisation, planning and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to work using own initiative
  • Able to solve problems quickly and decisively and able to stay calm in a crisis
  • Good work processing and Excel skills
  • Confidence to manage physically challenging behaviour
  • Physically and emotionally resilient

Education:


  • Essential: Maths and English GCSE (minimum C grade)
  • Desirable: A Levels
  • Desirable: Degree level education or a recognised qualification in childcare, psychology, applied behaviour analysis or related discipline


As part of this role you will be managed and supported by acornABA Ltd., however you will be self-employed and have a contract directly with the family.

Part-time hours: 10-15 per week (after school/weekends)
