2fawcett have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Purchasing Assistant to join our client based in Manchester on a full time permanent basis.

Are you self motivated and passionate with a positive attitude and looking for a positive working environment.

You will be responsible for placing orders with suppliers, obtaining prices and negotiating costs to ensure a timely delivery of materials.


Key responsibilities

  • Take deliveries from suppliers and ensure they are logged, stored, or distributed as required
  • Place orders with suppliers
  • Ensure orders are delivered on time
  • Ensure purchasing is carried on best price
  • Chase proof of delivery reports and outstanding orders with suppliers/Carriers
  • Log and manage returns to suppliers ensuring full credits are received
  • General administration such as maintaining spreadsheets related to purchasing documentation
  • Assist in maintaining the company better buying policy
  • Monitor supply only orders
  • Updating a database for stock level changes and supplier price changes
  • Ensure requested quotations are supplied to both Service & Projects departments as well as any requested Supply only quotes are turned around in a timely manner
  • Other purchasing duties as directed

Skills & Experience

  • Experience using Microsoft office (Word, excel)
  • Essential
  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering sectorsPreferable
  • Excellent organisation skills


  • MRP experience

  • Essential
  • A positive attitude
  • Adaptable approach and desire for progression
