Salary:
up to £23,836


Hours:35 Hours a week

**Contract
- **fixed term contract Until March 2025


Probation period:4 months


Annual Leave: 21 days plus all statutory Bank holidays


Pension:

The Refugee and Migrant Centre (RMC) is an established, multi award winning charity that provides a safe, welcoming environment to thousands of refugees and migrants living in the Black Country and Birmingham.


Our highly skilled and diverse staff team provide a broad range of services including advice and support on immigration (OISC regulated level 1, 2 & 3), employment, welfare, education, ESOL, housing, homelessness, destitution, citizenship, health and wellbeing.


RMC have been assisting beneficiaries to access and sustain appropriate accommodation and improve their housing and living conditions for nearly two decades.

RMC also deals with many aspects of homelessness, destitution, rough sleeping,exploitation,etc.


Purpose of the Job:


RMC will be delivering on a new project based in Walsall, we will be helping Refugees and Asylum seekers improve their employability skills and support them in accessing employment and/or education and training opportunities.


The post holder will play a key role in the project by helping participants on program to improve their chances to access work, education or training.

The Employment Coach will guide and encourage participants to develop their confidence and employability skills, while offering appropriate information, advice, guidance and expertise to help them overcome barriers into Employment and/ or Education and Training.


Principal Tasks

  • To effectively maintain a caseload of participants ensuring their attendance at regular one to one and group, training/support and progress review sessions. Offer appropriate information, advice and guidance to help overcome barriers to work, including signposting to relevant support agencies and partners.
  • Devise and monitor the participant's Action Plan and set targets at each review stage.
  • Support the participant and track their progress regularly.
  • Ensure that detailed participant records are maintained, updating associated spreadsheets etc. and that hard copy documentation is held.
  • Deliver CV workshops, employability coaching, job clubs and other relevant training as required.
  • Ensure that outcome evidence requirements are met to support any financial/performance claims made by RMC.
  • To provide a high quality service to participants and internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive feedback.
  • Promote RMC's activities to external agencies and employers using RMC literature and materials in order to promote the programme.

A DBS check will be carried out for this post.

Flexibility

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience in helping people with barriers to improve their employability and job search skills to secure employment.
  • Proven track record of operating effectively in a target driven environment.
  • Highly motivated, organised and flexible.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining positive working relations with a customer base.
  • Excellent typing and data inputting skills.
  • Understanding and commitment to equality and diversity as it applies to service delivery
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety

Desirable

  • Level 3 IAG or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and/or of working with the unemployed.
  • Knowledge of DWP, LSC, ESF and other funding bodies.
