Dawson Levy Resourcingcurrently have a great opportunity for a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join a leading Water organisation on a permanent basis in Barking, East London.


What you will be doing


We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Dual Skilled Technician to join our clients' Waste Treatment team at Beckton.

Working both indoors and outside, with no one day being the same provides a very interesting working environment.

You will be presented with unique challenges whether it's using your expertise to diagnose a fault or working with your teammate to installreplacement plant and equipment.


Main duties will include:


  • Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures in order to minimise plant breakdowns
  • You will investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents
  • To provide specialist technical advice where appropriate with uptodate technical knowledge, and provide training support for technical trainees
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be various pumps and associated control gear, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD's, automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmablelogic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment
  • Participate in a standby rota following the relevant training.
  • To comply with the Health and Safety at work regulations and Health and Safety guidelines.

We are looking for you to have the following skills, qualifications, and experience:

  • You should be a time served apprentice within significant experience of electrical systems working in a "true multi-skilled" capacity. Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineeringwith an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ3 is crucial.
  • Experience working on large industrial plant equipment including various pumps within the utilities industry would be beneficial. Would suit mechanical maintenance/service engineer or mechanic from any industry.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
  • The work will require physical fitness as you will work in within and manual handling and often physically demanding role.
  • A valid driving licence is essential and all necessary equipment such as tools are provided.
