Job description

An opportunity to work as an associate supporting an accelerated knowledge transfer project between Pryor & Rickett Silviculture and USW involving Geospatial AI has arisen to particularly automate certain areas of Forestry Management.

This project aims to seamlessly integrate the results into Geospatial Information System (GIS) platforms to enhance timely monitoring and data-driven insights providing a more cost-effective, automated, and accurate solution.

The accelerated knowledge transfer programme is designed to create short-term collaborations between a Business Partner and a UK Knowledge Base to rapidly inject innovation capacity.

Inspired by the highly successful partnership model of KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership), Innovate UK - Accelerated Knowledge Transfer's concept is to deliver a rapid and targeted intervention to accelerate the evaluation or development of an innovation project or concept, which has the potential for significant impact for the Business Partner.

The role will reside within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science but will primarily be based at USW's Treforest Campus with a visit to the head office of Pryor & Rickett Silviculture for final deployment of the project.

This is a full time (37 hours a week) fixed term post ending four months after the start date.

We offer a number of excellent employee benefits including a generous pension scheme, 35 days' annual leave (plus bank holidays), a staff support scheme, cycle to work scheme and annual increments (to the top of the grade).

USW is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All those working at the University are expected to share this commitment.
