Description
We are seeking an experienced practitioner to work as a Family Mentor in this dynamic and pioneering service. Within this key role, you will use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support both children and their families. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, promoting effective partnership between home and school. You will help parents and carers understand and meet their children's needs. You will assist families in accessing appropriate universal, targeted and specialist services.


Job Summary:


  • This is a permanent post
  • Location: Robson House, Netley Campus, 74 Stanhope Street, London NW1 3EX
  • Work pattern: fulltime, allyear round
  • Salary Awarded: £31,434 to £36,110 (Level 3, Zone 1)

Context:


Robson House PRU is a specialist therapeutic and educational placement for children who cannot attend mainstream school because of social, emotional and mental health needs, or who have been permanently excluded from school.

The primary task of Robson House is to meet the social, emotional, mental health and academic needs of highly vulnerable children, so that they are able to make accelerated progress, and be ready for their next stage in learning.

We aim to provide a stimulating and secure learning environment for pupils and to give each pupil a positive experience of school.


Key Requirements:


  • Understanding of child development, particularly of children with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties
  • Knowledge of the causes and impact on families of social disadvantage, including mental ill health, substance misuse, domestic violence, poverty and disability
  • Experience of working with families to promote positive parenting
  • Knowledge and experience of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Experience of working with or caring for children of primary school age
  • Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour and social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and parents / carers
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Also desirable:


  • Experience of delivering evidencebased programmes to support parenting
  • Team Teach training
  • First Aid training
