Hours:
Full-Time and Part-Time, Monday - Saturday

Annual Leave: 28 Days including Statutory Bank & Public Holidays (pro-rata)

Director Admissions


Job Purpose


The role holder is expected to work within the Admissions Department and provide effective assistance with the student recruitment and admissions process.

The role holder will also be required to perform administrative duties and assist in other departments as necessary.


Role Specification:


  • Assist with student recruitment and admissions process
  • Handle all enquiries and requests for information in a courteous and helpful manner
  • Maintain and monitor database of all enquiries
  • Provide highlevel customer service to prospective students and applicants
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on recruitment and admissions processes and procedures.
  • Organise and maintain recruitment and admissions database
  • Correct any errors that occur and liaise with other departments, as necessary
  • Assist applicants during the admissions process
  • Be aware of eligibility criteria, residency status, funding, qualification equivalencies & admission status of the applicants
  • Ensure that correct procedures are followed when dealing with applicants requiring visas in accordance with UKVI requirements (if applicable)
- check identification, certificates, proof of work experience for validity and authenticity
- clarify and verify any discrepancies found
- carry out UK Naric comparison checks for overseas qualifications
- carry out reference checks

  • Participate in and deliver (if required) IAG sessions
  • Arrange interviews and English and Maths tests for new applicants
  • Invigilate during English and Maths tests
  • Organise and file recruitment and admissions documentation
  • Assist in preparation of offer/ rejection letters
  • Ensure all rejections are accurately recorded
  • Deal with queries concerning offers and rejections
  • Prepare and complete student files for admissions and enrolment
  • Enter data on the student management system
  • Maintain student records and files
  • Create reports from the admissions database as directed
  • Archive student admissions documents
  • Produce a list of archived documents and files for each archiving year
  • Assist with the planning and organisation of open days and induction for new students
  • Participate in all student events/ activities, including student enrolment, induction and graduation, as and when required
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of SIRM admission policy and procedures, including initial assessment and eligibility criteria.
  • Support good working relationships with all departments, partner colleges and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of admissions service provision

General Duties
The postholder will undertake assigned responsibilities effectively and efficiently, and within regulatory and legislative requirements; achieve individual corporate targets within SIRM's annual planning and staff performance review process and budgetary constraints to create and maintain high performance of learners and SIRM and:

  • Actively promote the values of SIRM, learner focus, responsibility, integrity, collaboration and respect.
  • Actively promote equality and diversity, recognising and actively challenging stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination, ensuring that these principles permeate all working practices, creating an inclusive learning environment and workplace for learners and staff respectively.
  • Ensure effective quality control and continuous improvement in all aspects of this post, in keeping with SIRM's existing and developing quality assurance systems.
  • Be committed to professional development, through participation in SIRM continuing professional development programme which includes commercial upskilling, staff learning days and training events appropriate to the job role
  • Develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners as appropriate to the role.
  • Comply with and promote College Safeguarding, Prevent, Data Protection and Health and Safety policies and procedures and undertake recommended training as when necessary.
  • Comply with Health and Safety rules, identify and manage risk effectively.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised work area.
  • Undertake other Administrative and Student Support duties as required, commensurate with the post, as may be reasonably required at the initial place of work or other locations in SIRM
  • Support crosscollege events such as Open Days and Enrolment, Induction sessions when required
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all SIRM Procedures and as detailed in the Staff Handbook
  • At all times seek to serve the best interests of SIRM
  • To provide cover for colleagues during periods of holiday or sickness absence.
