Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dynamic team one of our lovely schools in Woking.

As an HLTA in our SEND school, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational development and well-being of our students aged 7-17 with special educational needs and disabilities.

Your role will involve assisting teachers, implementing individualized education plans, and creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Classroom Instruction:


  • Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver lessons tailored to the diverse needs of students with SEND.
  • Provide oneonone or small group support to students, ensuring they can access the curriculum and reach their learning goals.
  • Adapt and differentiate instructional materials as necessary.

Assessment and Progress Tracking:


  • Assist in the assessment of students' abilities, progress, and development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and behaviour.
  • Report and discuss student progress with the teaching team and parents/guardians as required.

Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):


  • Contribute to the development and implementation of IEPs for students with SEND.
  • Monitor and support the attainment of IEP objectives.
  • Provide feedback to the SENDCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) regarding the effectiveness of interventions.

Behaviour Management:


  • Support the management of challenging behaviours using approved strategies and techniques.
  • Create a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere that fosters emotional wellbeing.

Inclusive Practices:


  • Promote an inclusive environment that values diversity and ensures all students can participate and succeed.
  • Encourage positive peer interactions and social integration.

Communication and Collaboration:


  • Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and other professionals to provide a coordinated approach to student support.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, sharing information on student progress and development.

Professional Development:


  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on SEND best practices and strategies.
  • Attend relevant training and workshops as required.
  • Provide details for us to complete reference checks prior to employment. _
  • Provide an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one (which Pink Tile can assist with). _
