Position:


We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Director to join Retail Week, leading the commercial team to exceed revenue targets.

The Commercial Director will motivate and develop the team to achieve objectives and sales standards, providing leading client service sales to identify and develop areas for growth.


Launched more than 30 years ago, Retail Week is one of the most exciting and dynamic B2B media brands, read and respected by the most influential business leaders in UK retail.

We create must-read, premium subscription content for some of the UK's most influential business leaders and their teams, within an industry worth more than £100bn to the UK economy.


Retail Week creates digital news, features, analysis, insight and reports across all sectors including fashion, grocery, health and beauty, sports and leisure and homewares.

Sales & Management

  • Deliver a personal contribution to achieving sales targets across the portfolio.
  • Recruit, manage and motivate teams to deliver sales exceeding targets across:
  • Digital
  • F2F
  • Sponsorship
  • Provide customers with total marketing solutions, developing innovative solutions to meet their needs
  • Set and manage commercial budgets. Deliver accurate, timely forecasts based upon detailed market assessment.
  • Contribute to brand financial forecasts and budgeting process.
  • Gather market intelligence, communicating this to the Managing Director and teams as required.
  • Lead team by example, maintaining relationships with key clients and educating the market of the value of the businesstobusiness media.
  • Develop, coach and mentor teams members setting clear targets, standards and KPIs in place to measure performance.
Strategy

  • Set and execute the sales strategies for each platform so that sales targets are met/exceeded.
  • Work with content/commercial content teams to support and create commercial opportunities.
  • Work with marketing teams to deliver assets and activity to support sales
  • Collaborate with other WR brands to support and develop existing and new commercial opportunities. Develop a complementary sales strategy with The Grocer Commercial Director
  • Innovate to meet changing customer needs, creating and executing business plans.
  • Work with MD to develop brands to maximise long term sustainable revenue and growth.
General

  • Manage time to ensure all management tasks are completed whilst maintaining market visibility.
  • Represent brands at industry events.
  • Ensure that people processes such as recruitment, performance management, training and development are carried out in accordance with company policy and best practice.
  • Ensure Salesforce is used personally, and by the team, to maximise accuracy and opportunity.

Requirements:


  • Trained and experienced as a high achieving salesperson.
  • Collaborative approach and communication style.
  • Experience creating and executing sales strategy.
  • Strong numeracy and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in leading a digital first publishing sales strategy
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team to deliver results
  • A demonstrable track record in driving sales and innovation.
  • Extensive B2B media sales experience in a leadership role
