General Assistant
to join our Rail team to work in Horsham, West Sussex**

What you'll be doing
As a
General Assistant, your main accountabilities will be as follows:

There are a multitude of jobs for the General Assistant to complete alongside our fully qualified technicians, starting with cleaning bogies & cabs ready for planned maintenance all the way through to completing minor repairs on the assets & equipment to helping turnaround pre-service preparation.

Yard Based Work

  • Loading and unloading of stores using 3T Forklift
  • Receiving and counting in deliveries, manual handling and use of pallet trucks
  • Receipting goods into stock
  • Booking materials out of stock
  • Cleaning of MPV's & Associated Modules
  • Paint repairs to MPV's & Associated Modules
  • Minor Repairs to equipment
  • Carry out DP duties as & when required (Once trained & competent)
  • Assist with replenishing duties during seasonal work
Depot

  • Good general handyman skills for repair issues on depot.
  • Good housekeeping, keeping depot clean and tidy.
  • Promote safety
  • Ensuring depot mess rooms are kept up to standard
  • Ensuring depot notice boards are up to date

Who we're looking for

The following personal qualities and experience are required:

  • Knowledge & interest in mechanical systems.
  • Experience in house keeping, washing down bays and heavy cleaning.
The following are desirable but full training can be given:

  • DP Trained
  • Forklift Ticket
  • First Aid at Work
