Engineering Buyer

We are delighted to be working on behalf of a well-established and financially secure design and manufacturing company to help them secure a full time and permanent Engineering Buyer to join their experienced and very friendly team in Westbury.

Our clientis a company specialising in creating components for safe transfer of materials, they work with other companies to ensure the protection of personnel, equipment, reputation, and the environment.


To meet the demands of global industries the company constantly focuses on research and development programmes to meet the changing demands and the evolving world legislation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Continually identify and determine optimum sources of supply in terms of quality, cost and lead time.
  • Compare costs and evaluate the quality and suitability of suppliers, materials and equipment. Select and develop appropriate vendors, using your technical knowledge.
  • Monitor vendor performance and recommend necessary actions to improve performance, carrying out audits and supplier visits when required.
  • Ensure that the MRP system contains accurate information at all times.
  • Work closely with the sales, project management and production team to provide timeous feedback on various orders and projects.
  • Assist the production control supervisor in ensuring on time delivery to customer due dates.
  • Assist with managing the daily production workload through the workshop and covering for the production control supervisor as required.

Required Skills:


  • Minimum of 2 years Engineering / Manufacturing buying experience.
  • ERP/MRP experience with M1 or D365 (or similar) will be beneficial.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to make decisions and meet targets.
  • Methodical and detailed work ethic.
  • Ambition for career development.
  • To be willing to travel to other group companies and suppliers as and when required.
  • Ability to communicate on all levels and establish good working relationships in a global marketplace.
  • Resourceful with strong business ethics, initiative, and versatility.
  • Good networking skills, excellent prospect identification and tracking skills.
  • Strong team player able to manage independent workload, while coordinating with colleagues.
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and handle conflicting priorities with detail and accuracy.

Westbury

Full Time and Permanent


Annual up to £30,000 Dependant on Experience

Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:30am to 3:30pm
