Role:
Work for a company which supplies automated equipment to a range of large companies for their automated distribution centres.
In some of these they also then hold the maintenance contract to maintain the equipment and IT systems (and large databases) on site,whist others have distance support.
A lot of the sites operate 24/7 so they need to be able to assist the clients from distance.Benefits:
- £28,000 - £34,000 depending on relevant experience and skills. Includes shift premium.

Details of the role:
- The shifts are 12 hours and run from 07:0019:00 and 19:0007:00
- Typical shift patterns = 3 on 3 off
- 6 'additional' shifts per year.
- Currently running a trial until end of year for Monday to Friday 3 shifts (6am2pm, 2pm 10pm and 10pm to 6am)
- The role necessitates working on Weekends, Nights and Bank Holidays.
- A good telephone manner is very important.
Skills and Traits:
- A confident individual, able to manage and prioritise multiple workstreams effectively.
- A selfmotivated, inquisitive personality with strong problem solving skills.
- A good communicator.
- A good general allround IT knowledge.
- Willing to learn new skills.
- A good understanding of the following is required;
- SQL (Oracle experience is preferred)
- MS Office (Excel primarily)
- Windows OS
- Basics of networks and network troubleshooting techniques
- Basics of computer hardware
- Skills in the following are desirable;
- Incident/Escalation management
- Scripting (VBS/VBA/PHP/PowerShell)
- Programming (C++, C#, Java, VB, etc)
- Advanced DB (Stored Procedures, SQL optimisation, DB administration, etc)
- Web (ASP.Net, PHP, CGI, etc)
Looking for 'basic' as minimum and some intermediate skills
- Basic
- Simple SELECT to retrieve rows from a single table
- Simple UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE to/from a single table
- Application of simple filters (WHERE clause) to limit results.
- Intermediate
- JOINS
- Be able to write an SELECT involving a JOIN across at least 2 tables
- Understanding of different JOINS
- Aggregates and associated clauses; Group By's Having's, etc
