Our in-house Design studio is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, passionate, and driven Creative Designer to join their team in Christchurch, Dorset.

As Senior Designer, you will be tasked with leading the design of our Health & Beauty category. Core design sectors include Print & Packaging Design, Product Design, Illustration, Photography, 3D Design and Marketing/Branding.

You will be working in a vibrant, fast-paced office environment alongside key stakeholders in the business including Account Managers, Product Developers and Technical Managers to deliver creative projects for a wide range of national and international customer partners.


Responsibilities Include

  • Be able to research and present current and upcoming consumer and packaging trends for your category.
  • Use market and consumer data and trend knowledge to create stunning and wellconsidered 2D product concepts.
  • Work closely with the Product, Commercial and Technical teams to deliver beautiful, innovative and standout product and packaging solutions.
  • Demonstrate good leadership and ability to coach more junior members of the team.
  • Take ownership of projects from idea conception through to artwork delivery.
  • Manage and maintain workflows on a daily basis to ensure the smoothrunning of the team and category.
  • Take an active interest in ways we can reduce our environmental impact and improve our sustainability.
  • Design of presentations for internal teams and new business pitches.
  • Attend internal and external meetings and be able to contribute or present confidently.
  • Assist the Product Developers with artwork approvals, to ensure accurate, consistent and welldesigned products are delivered on time.
  • Adhere to the deadlines and briefs set out by the Product Development Team.
  • Making mock ups of new packaging designs, both digitally and physically.
  • Art working designs and preparing files to send to printers/suppliers.
  • Ensure graphic skills within the studio are of an industry standard by running training and development sessions where necessary, to keep Solent at the forefront of design.

Requirements:

You will be currently working as a Senior Designer (or a Middleweight Designer looking to make the next step) in an integrated agency environment or similar with a good understanding of the FMCG and retail sectors and have the following attributes:

  • Experience in packaging design (preferably in the FMCG industry)
  • Excellent creative thinking and design skills.
  • Strong strategic understanding and ability.
  • A keen interest in keeping up to date with current and upcoming trends.
  • A creative insight into product, packaging and brand design.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects from idea conception to artwork delivery.
  • Approachable and helpful.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with internal teams, customers, and supplier partners.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Good time management and organisation, with an ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritise workload.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm with a cando attitude and a flexible approach to getting the job done.
  • Express ideas with clarity, confidence and logical reasoning.
  • Be a strong team player, as well as ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and multitask.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Relevant designbased qualification.
  • 5+ years' experience within an agency environment or similar.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop essential.
  • Wider Adobe Creative Suite skills are desirable.
  • Experience in 3D software would be beneficial.
  • A passion and commitment to highquality design.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with great timemanagement and communication skills.
  • Experience of illustration, photography and/or marketing is desirable.
  • Experience working with licensing companies, style guides and assets is desirable.
  • A good understanding of print production (preferably for packaging) and preparing files for commercial printing.
