Position:

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed person to join a successful, entrepreneurial company with offices globally.

We work with a diverse portfolio of retailers and supply bespoke products within various categories, including Reusable Bags, Health & Beauty, Household products and Impulse Snacking.


The role will also involve travel to various locations globally to attend factory trials, pre-production and product launches and to meet with customers.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for supporting on Health and Beauty technical product development, systems, quality assurance, quality control and support for new product launches.
  • Playing a supporting technical role across all members of the technical team in the UK and the Far East, ensuring all relevant due diligence is in place.
  • Maintaining a technical database either electronic or hard copy format of all supporting documentation, and test results.
  • Ensuring duties in support of technical compliance, labelling checks, ingredient compliance to regulation and coordinating with the quality team to prepare the product specifications and drafting quality contracts where applicable.
  • Ensuring awareness by customers and manufacturing suppliers for the required quality assurance.
  • Check product artwork, packaging and labelling for compliance with relevant regional legislation.
  • Work closely with the internal product and commercial teams to ensure all technical requirements are applied during the NPD process and new launches.
  • Travel to various locations with line manager to attend factory initial visits, development trials, preproduction and product launches.
  • Prioritise and champion Solent's Policies on Sustainability, Innovation and Ethical manufacturing.
  • Integrate with the bigger technical team to ensure alignment across the business on quality, product safety, systems and Solent technical ways of work.
  • Ensuring relevant reporting systems are maintained and timeous reports are delivered with accuracy as per business deadlines.
  • General knowledge of category legislation, legal compliance and policies to ensure compliance.

Scope

  • Assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of Customer and Solent Technical Database management.
  • Ensuring all relevant critical gates, documentation and systems are upheld as part of our Solent New Product Development Process.

Requirements:


Experience

  • Ideally some experience of technical product development and delivery to market.
  • Retail or retail supplier experience and/or brand development experience.
  • Excellent people, presentation and communication skills.


  • Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Science/Engineering or SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science.
  • The ability to work autonomously in a highly pressurised environment.


  • Preferred
- experience in customer-facing product development and quality management roles.

  • Good working knowledge of Quality Management Systems, HACCP, BRC, Allergen Controls, Ethical Requirements, Internal Auditing, thirdparty and retailer accreditation systems and Codes of Practice.
  • Good problemsolving skills and the ability to communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization as needed.
