JOB DESCRIPTION:

***LBA is looking to recruit a proactive lawyer on a 12-month fixed term basis. This is an exciting time for LBA and the legal function is highly regarded and seen as key to the company's success.


The individual will report to the General Counsel & Company Secretary who is part of the Executive team and reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

The General Counsel strongly promotes professional development and the value of lawyers within the company. The individual will work closely with the General Counsel and other members of the Executive and Senior Leadership teams.


This is a very hands-on role with the individual assisting with all aspects of legal work on behalf of LBA and assisting in company secretarial matters as necessary from time to time.

It is vital that the individual will be capable of working independently and will be highly proactive.

The legal function is still in its infancy and it is imperative that the individual can take ownership with the General Counsel in its development.

Communication and negotiation skills are very important given regular interaction with internal stakeholders at senior levels. They will be relied upon to communicate effectively and efficiently to senior management.


From commercial contracts with suppliers and partners to major pieces of procurement, to regulatory and litigation, property, employment and everything in between, this is a varied and challenging opportunity.

There is also a need to assist with rolling out new systems and processes going forwards for a rapidly growing business.


KEY ACOUNTABILITIES:

***The purpose of this role is to help deliver, manage and support legal work within LBA.

The key legal matters and/or areas of work encountered will vary but primarily include:


  • Draft, negotiate and advise on commercial agreements. This includes being able to provide contract interpretation advice and efficiently and clearly distinguish between critical and less critical risks.
  • Business partner and provide legal support to a wide range of teams including operational, planning, engineering, compliance, HR and IT which not only is pragmatic but also easily digestible by nonlawyers.
  • Provide legal support on various matters to commercial teams in contractual negotiations to achieve the most advantageous and/or beneficial legal and commercial terms for LBA.
  • Assist in developing and delivering training and legal risk management initiatives to senior management in managing legal risks (e.g. business training, legal updates, etc.) including contract compliance.
  • Help to implement bestpractices in compliance, contracts management, intellectual property, data protection, IT and/or litigation.
  • Assist with delivering costeffective handling of existing litigation and disputes to protect LBA's best interests, including timely and accurate reporting.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and compliance, including training, of policies, processes and systems across the business.
  • Manage and instruct external counsel as appropriate.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:

***- have qualified in a UK jurisdiction with at least 2/3 years PQE;
- solid private practice training and experience from a top tier law firm;
- ideally have industry/in-house experience;
- have strong experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts;
- ability to communicate effectively at all levels;
- strong commercial/business acumen; and

7. have a demonstrable ability to provide accurate, timely and pragmatic legal advice
