About The Role


An exciting opportunity to join a progressive housing service with a clear focus to improve the quality of services to tenants and leaseholders.

You will be part of a new leadership team pursuing a mandate to be the best local housing authority in the country.


You will be grounded in the delivery of what matters to tenants evidenced through your track record in this space.


A sound understanding of the law relating to the management of council housing including leasehold and shared-ownership properties will be critical for you to succeed in this role.


About The Team You'll Be Working In
You will be responsible for a range of teams including:

  • Housing Tenancy Management
  • Tenancy Sustainment
  • Antisocial behaviour
  • Estate Improvement
You will have direct responsibility for 4/5 managers and indirect responsibility for circa 65 staff members.


You and your team will play a critical role in delivering the housing improvement plan and ensuring that the views of tenants drive our service delivery in line with regulatory requirements.


About You
Significant senior management experience in tenancy management and related areas.


Extensive knowledge of current issues in this area including national policies and their impact in the delivery of housing management services.

Extensive experience and consistent achievement at a senior management level in an organisation of comparable scope and complexity.


Experience in leading, motivating and managing services with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve consistently high standards and deliver strategic objectives, policies and value for money services through effective service planning.


Excellent interpersonal skills will mean that you are able to be supportive and motivating as you lead and inspire, empowering your teams and colleagues whilst being clear and firm about performance and service delivery.

An expert communicator who has extensive experience of developing excellent relationships with key partners.


You take personal responsibility to obtain and maintain trust of a wide range of stakeholders, including residents, internal departments, external agencies, government departments.

Proven track record of operating strategically to identify, initiate and oversee projects and policy development.

Authority and credibility to work effectively in a political environment and establish positive relationship with elected members.


Experience of persuading a wide range of stakeholders to work together, encouraging an organisational focus on the needs of the community.


A critical thinker with innovative and creative problem-solving skills that achieve the strategic objectives of the council, while managing and minimising risk across the service.


Highly organised and analytical with an attention to detail, able to analyse complex financial data, and identify trends and make appropriate decisions.

High personal integrity with a respect for the dignity and confidentiality of others. You will be committed to equal opportunities and understanding how the service needs to adapt to improve accessibility.
