- Management of the GP Appraisal Process for all GPs in Wales on behalf of the Health Boards.
- Leading on Medical Appraisal Quality Management systems and providing support for Medical Revalidation.
- Delivery of face-to-face CPD events, training, and online learning/resources.
- Development and management of online systems to support appraisal and revalidation.
- Medical Appraisal Revalidation System (MARS) - a sophisticated online appraisal platform used by over 7000 doctors, appraisers, HB managers, and Medical Directors to facilitate the annual medical appraisal process, and to support doctors and employers in meeting the requirements of revalidation.
- Orbit360(TM) - a system to facilitate multi-source feedback for doctors as a part of their revalidation requirements.
- Knowledge of NHS systems and structures
- Knowledge of educational theory and practice which are relevant for appraisal
- Familiarity with examples of the application of best practice in relation to medical education and quality
- Demonstrate a commitment to the appraisal and revalidation

Revalidation Support Unit (RSU)
The Revalidation Support Unit is a professional unit within Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) that aims to support and improve professional standards across Wales. The Unit has responsibility for:
We are looking to appoint 8 motivated and enthusiastic GPs to join the team as part-time GP Appraisers (1 session per week). Appraisers play a vital role in the facilitation of GP appraisal in Wales, undertaking peer appraisal at local level.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertakea minimum of 20 appraisalsper yearand work closely with their fellow GP Appraisers and AppraisalCoordinator to discuss key updates and issues relating to appraisal and role will requireparticipationin initial, ongoing and refresher training to supportcontinualdevelopment inthe role,and attendance at regional and national meetings.
To take on this exciting opportunity you will have unconditional inclusion on the Medical Performers List in Wales and hold full GMC Registration including a licence to practice.
