Description

Supporting Northamptonshire schools in partnership with the University of Northampton to organise the Uni Connect programme which aims to support the most disadvantaged young people in England to progress into higher education (HE).

The programme involves outreach activity in geographical areas where the HE participation of young people is lower than expected based on GCSE-level attainment.


An outreach post within a designated set of schools based in Northamptonshire, the post holder is expected to organise, coordinate and take responsibility for all Uni Connect related activities within the school, co-ordinating paperwork, administrative tasks, logistics and data to contribute to the smooth and effective running of the Uni Connect programme.


The post will also require speaking both formally and informally to young people at events such as, open days, school and college open evenings, careers fairs, via virtual platforms, summer schools, taster days, student assemblies, community events and parent evenings.

Fixed term until 31st July 2023. There is a strong possibility the role will be extended until July 2025.

Petrol expenses are also paid for travel where this exceeds mileage that would have been greater than home to University of Northampton mileage.

About you


Educated to level 3 you will demonstrate the ability to work across a range of different work streams, prioritising and managing time effectively.

Based in secondary schools within Northamptonshire you will need to be a self-starter and have the ability to initiate conversations with senior school staff in a time constrained and efficient way.


Qualifications
Essential

  • Level 3 qualifications (A 'levels Btec level 3)
  • 5 GCSE grade A-C including Maths and English or equivalent

Desirable

  • Degree Qualification

Enterprise and Employability


You will be working within the Schools Engagement team which sits within the Employability and Engagement department, which is part of the Enterprise and Employability Directorate.


Th Uni Connect programme is a national programme which targets students who are underrepresented within Higher Education, working with them and their schools to raise their aspirations and interest in the benefits of higher education.

You will work closely with members of the Schools Engagement team as well as faculty colleagues across the university and those within our two consortium partners, Universities of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire to develop and deliver opportunities to students from year 7 to 13.
