About the role:

We have an exciting new role for a Property Inspector to join our newly established Repairs & Voids team.

Within this role, you will be responsible for the standard of the Sage Homes' properties in a designated geographical area, taking ownership for the standard and appearance of the properties and ensuring the communal areas are in good order.


You will be carrying out regular inspections and following up actions needed to maintain the expected standards agreed with Sage customers.

You will assist the team in covering responsive, compliance and defects work through the effective distribution of those works.

You will also contribute to the responsive maintenance service ensuring that the service is efficient and that excellent standards of customer service are delivered.


This is a field based role with travel to our homes in Kent and East Sussex, and will include visits to our Northampton and Covent Garden offices when required.

Key duties include:


  • Carry out property inspections and complete a specification of works required and issue works orders as necessary.
  • Complete stock condition surveys when visiting properties to ensure the property database is accurately updated so that future works can be efficiently planned.
  • Contribute to the fire safety of all of Sage's buildings.
  • Conduct void and prevoid inspections and mutual exchange inspections.
  • Carry out damp and mould inspections of properties and advise on the appropriate course of action necessary.
  • Monitor and control the quality of the Sage Homes' maintenance contractors and feedback on any performance issues.

About you

  • Educated to HNC or relevant professional qualification.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS qualified and hold or be working towards a recognised qualification in building surveying or trade qualification.
  • Previous experience as a Property Inspector, Home Inspector or in a related field is essential.
  • Indepth knowledge of residential construction, building codes and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with the various elements of the various systems and components of residential properties including electrical, plumbing and structural elements.
  • Previous experience of carrying out property inspections for Housing Associations or Local Authorities is highly desirable.
  • Experience of working with contractors, issuing work orders and using schedule of rates
  • Good written and verbal communications along with excellent customer service skills.
  • Flexible, selfreliant with strong problem solving and decision making abilities.
