Backend Java Engineer (AWS Python) *London / Hybrid WfH* to £50k
A British institution currently undertaking a huge project focused on Sustainability and protecting biodiversity within the world are a looking to hire a Backend Software Developer.
You will join an expanding Data Science function as they build a world classproject, working as part of a collaborative cross discipline team.
Backend Software Developer Role:
As a Backend Java / AWS Engineer, you'll be working as part of a squad within a wider technical team of around 15.
The squads work on a range of projects to deliver against various business goals and requirements which can be as diverse as DNA samples and willenable the organisation to manage and enrich the vast data set and aid ground breaking research.
You'll be working on a variety of interesting projects that will cover scalability challenges, API based work, building out new software delivery products andGreenfield projects.
The company tech stack includes Java, Python, Lambda, and AWS.Driven by technology, with a fantastic team that is made up of other Senior Developers and with partners such as AWS, you will be in a great position to hone your skills.
The company is based in West London with excellent transport links close by.Requirements for the Backend Software Developer role:
- Development experience with either Java or Python
- Experience developing solutions with Spring Boot
- You will have a good understanding of both document and relational data modelling technologies such as Postgres, MongoDB and MySQL.
- You have a good understanding of APIs
Desirable experience for the Backend Software Developer:
- You have experience working on Cloud based systems (ideally AWS and Terraform)
- Familiarity with deployment methods such as OOP (Objectoriented programming), unit tests (junit5), continuous integration / deployment (Jenkins), code control (Git).
- An understanding of Microservices, or Front-End JavaScript and React experience would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
