Job Purpose To deliver and promote Aura library services to customers and
communities.
The job will be based across Aura libraries, but will also involve delivering
services direct to Flintshire communities through the use of Aura's
mobile library/delivery vehicles
The job is specifically concerned with creating and sustaining links to
local communities, and supporting the health and wellbeing of people
through the services that Aura deliver.
To visit communities in Flintshire, and provide Aura library services to
customers in accordance with Aura strategy and policy where required.
To support delivery of library services on site at Aura libraries in
accordance with Aura strategy and policy where required.
To support the Library Management Team, ensuring effective service
delivery to the community.
Ensure excellent customer service provision and effective service
promotion that supports and engages customers.
Key tasks Delivery of Aura's library services to the communities of Flintshire, which
will include:
Reading and Literacy - provide access to a wide choice of reading
resources and ensure people are supported and encouraged to read.
Assist people with their choices and enable them to read more widely.
Culture and Creativity - ensure communities are engaged with our
language, culture and heritage. Represent Aura at events and deliver
creative and cultural activities and experiences to people of all ages.
Information and Digital Services - help people to access the digital world.
Provide ICT support through access to equipment and infrastructure as
well as training and advice. Provide access to reliable and quality
information.
Health and Wellbeing - engage and connect with individuals and
communities to minimise loneliness and social isolation and improve
wellbeing.
Supporting Local Economy - help to build strong and resilient
communities. Deliver and support access to opportunities for learning and
development. Provide information and resources to improve
employability and skills. Signpost to other organisations and partners.
To provide a quality, customer focused service to all users.
Work to establish connections and relationships within communities to
ensure that the services Aura provide are delivered and promoted
effectively. Work with the Library Management Team to develop and
maintain effective community engagement.
To work both independently and as part of a wider team to_ _support the
Library Management Team in maintaining a consistent level of service
across Flintshire.
Assist customers to obtain resources and information relevant to their
needs.
Monitor and maintain the quality of resources available to customers,
both on library vehicles and on site at libraries. Arrange exchanges of
stock with colleagues and address any additional requirements with
relevant library manager.
To promote resources and services utilising local and national initiatives.
To maintain accurate and up to date information on all library systems
relating to customers and resources.
To maintain statistical records of service use and assist the Library
Management Team in preparing performance reports as required.
To count, check and submit money for banking and keep records of
income. To order and maintain supplies.
Maintain the library vehicles in a roadworthy condition. Carry out daily
checks, including fuel, oil and water levels. Arrange services, MOTs and
repairs with the appropriate garage services. Keep the vehicle in a clean
and tidy condition. Record an accurate log of all such maintenance.
To be aware of Aura's H&S policy and the responsibility to themselves,
other employees and to the general public. Organise and manage minor
repair and maintenance. Operate the lift which allow access for customers
with disabilities.
Knowledge and Skills Enthusiastic and flexible to deliver Aura library service to customers and
communities throughout Flintshire.***Proficient ICT skills -to operate library systems, and general office
systems such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
Knowledge and understanding of digital systems and ability to support
customers to access online services and resources etc.
Numeracy and Literacy skills - to allow for competent handling of finance
procedures and following correct processes when working with library
resources.
Personal qualities of energy, enthusiasm and good inter-personal skills
coupled with an ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
keeping to a timetable.
Answering customer enquiries on a wide range of topics, searching &
finding information online or through other library resources. Ensuring
that the information found matches the customer's needs.***Promoting resources and events.
