Description

Who we are:

NMITE is an innovative new entrant in UK Higher Education in Hereford, with its eyes firmly on regional impact and a global reputation.

We have ambitious aims to widen access to higher education, support lifelong learning in technology and engineering, to support industry and transform careers.

Supported by Government, industry, and the engineering profession, we aim to be a game-changer in every facet of our operations and educational programmes.

NMITE's approach to teaching is highly interactive - we don't use lectures or traditional exams; we do use challenge-led, industry-linked learning experiences and we are proud advocates of learning by doing.

Our Values & Behaviours:
NMITE aims to be a game changer.

Its staff must be able to balance the need to create a well-run, self-critical institution where good governance and rigorous quality controls are in place, with the need to test (and push) the boundaries of existing practice to create new approaches to engineering education.

The way we work together is crucial to this mission and our values and behaviours must reflect this.

The Role:

The Skills Hub is designed to support innovation, entrepreneurship, skills development, and business growth in Hereford and across the county.

It will be inclusive and accessible, helping school leavers, career-shifters, businesses, and entrepreneurs to reach their potential.

It will be housed in a new extension to NMITE's Blackfriars Campus in the centre of Hereford with programmes being delivered across the Herefordshire region.

The Skills Hub will be a futuristic space that enables a feeling of walking into the future with excitement and confidence, rather than fear and uncertainty.

Its aim is to revolutionise upskilling and reskilling, and meet skills needs for current and future work. It will be a test bed facility for innovation.

By helping new entrepreneurs get started, raising aspirations of young people and adults, and supporting the creation of new jobs in the local area, we will be introducing new engines of economic growth.

Our local community can access a portfolio of programmes and courses including other forms of support helping them prepare for the future of work.

Within the Skills Hub, immersive reality facilities will give people first hand experiences of different scenarios and possible future opportunities that help capture their imaginations by creating visual and virtual kinaesthetic experiences.

The Hub will also provide making facilities, where physical prototypes can be developed, along with opportunities to collaborate.
