About the role


The Construction Skills Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the Places for London (Places) Educational Engagement Programme.

This programme supports Places for London and its development partners to reach young people attending secondary schools and colleges in the communities it is developing in, with the aim of inspiring the next generation of built environment professionals and supporting young Londoners to thrive.


You will be reporting to the Construction Skills Manager - Education Lead, in a collaborative team that has been responsible for the progression of 3,500 people through training, and a more than 1,000 people into employment in the built environment sector.

Activities associated with the role will focus on enabling social mobility and connecting young people to the opportunities created through our development programme and existing estate.


Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the daytoday coordination of the Places Educational Engagement programme to deliver on its KPIs, and drive a new generation of built environment professionals into the sector.
  • Support the delivery of secondary school activities led by our appointed delivery partner, by delivering on the relevant logístical requests (i.e. identification / liaising / coordinating volunteers, development of resources / materials as required).
  • Coordinate and deliver events to promote the built environment sector amongst young Londoners, with the aim of building the aspirations of young people, and helping them progress into the built environment sector.
  • Support delivery of the Places work experience programme, which sees 30+ young people gain placements at Places for London and its development partners.
  • Support the development of of new processes, including the reporting of key management information relating to project performance, and collate data that will enable evaluation of impact and success
  • Liaise with the Communications & Engagement and Marketing teams to celebrate positive stories and raise the profile of the Educational Engagement programme, via blogs, platform articles, and supporting Places for London's social media channels.
  • Support the Construction Skills Manager with secretarial and governance duties relating to the running of the Educational Engagement programme.
  • Support the team with wider initiatives that relate to job brokerage, diversity & inclusion, innovation, and graduate and apprentice recruitment.

Skills

  • Project management and organisational skills, that will enable the delivery of a wide variety of activities involving a range of suppliers and stakeholders (E)
  • Demonstrable Stakeholder and relationship management skills that will enable you to build, develop and maintain ongoing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong written communication skills with a close attention to detail.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to a varied audience (think an assembly of school children in the morning, a project director in the afternoon). (E)
  • Collaborative, selfstarter with a focus on achieving the programme goals.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the importance of safeguarding in working with young people.
