As a Barclays SecDecOps Engineer, you will be in charge of bringing thought leadership and excellence in cloud technologies and how to leverage cloud best practices in delivering infrastructure automation to solve the evergreen OS challenges and to leada transformation of culture, technology and ways of working while leading form the front.

You will also be expected to devise solutions for some very fundamental problems from a security perspective and be able to bring industry best practise to the table.

What will you be doing?:


  • Understanding the business problems and helping to bridge the gap between the customer and business stakeholders
  • Refining technical specifications to ensure the quality of project deliverables into production and provide a positive customer experience
  • Maintaining product backlog and refining stories, and ensuring backlog items are ready for development
  • Defining the acceptance criteria and ensuring that developed features meet the definition of done
  • Working closely with the delivery teams to solve problems and facilitate resolution in a timely, costeffective manner and drive continuous improvement
  • Serving as the SME for business and functional domain knowledge, working closely with the Product Owner
  • Working as a liaison among project stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate features for new functionality

What we're looking for:


  • Expertise level programming in Golang and Java (Java 8/11, Spring boot)Handson experience with microservice architecture, distributed consensus
  • Indepth knowledge of PKI/SSL/TLS, encryption, design patterns and algorithms
  • Indepth knowledge Authentication and

Authorization Protocols:
JWT/OAUTH2

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Knowledge of C++/Rust, Python, Angular/React JS
  • Knowledge of relational and Document databases (MySql/Postgres, Mongo, etc)
  • Knowledge of Hasicorp Vault, Hashicorp Consul and Nomad
  • Build systems, CI/CD (Jenkins, TC), version control: git, Kubernetes/OpenShift

Where will you be working?

You will be based in Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997.

We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton.

Plans to further develop this Campus-style location are under way to allow for a real collaborative work environment. Based just off the A45 it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
