Description
Responsible for the application, implementation and dissemination of US Government policies and directives pertaining to Article VII of the agreements regarding the Status of Forces of Parties to the North Atlantic Treaty in the United Kingdom, to include the exercise of foreign criminal jurisdiction over US Force personnel in the UK and elsewhere throughout the USCR-UK area of responsibility.
Renders legal opinions on national and international matters which affect or relate to the authority, prerogatives and policies of US Force, activities and commanders, as well as the personal status, rights and obligations of military and civilian personnel and their dependents while stationed in or transiting through the United Kingdom.
Responsible for the application, implementation and dissemination of US Government policies and directives in relation to environmental protection, environmental and health and safety law.
Applies and implements legal documentation and renders extremely complex and unique opinions and decisions for the whole of the UK and other USCR-UK areas of responsibility.
Advises on the negotiation of agreements and arrangements with the host government consistent with the rights and privileges accorded to the US Force under the NATO Status of Forces Agreement.
Coordinates with staff members in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, and with members of other staff agencies.
Coordinates with Staff Judge Advocate staff to ensure awareness of national policy, international agreements, understandings and established procedures which may affect the legal issues which fall within their areas of responsibility.
Acts as US trial observer in trials of US personnel tried in British Courts for criminal offenses.Examines, reviews and renders legal decisions on agreements and arrangements with the United Kingdom Government for services, supplies, and equipment.
