We have a new opportunity available for a
Graduate Sustainability Officer to join our team on a full time, fixed term contract with view to permanent position.

In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £21,279 - £23,340 per annum pro rata.

The Graduate Sustainability Officer Role
***You will provide a wide range of technical support to the Sustainability Committee and Estates Team, contributing to all aspects of the implementation of the College's Sustainability Policy, Carbon Management and Travel Plans, and the effective management of all of the College's environmental aspects and impacts.

The role requires an initiative-taking approach and a good understanding of sustainability issues. The individual will work to support the delivery of a diverse and extensive sustainability agenda across the College


Responsibilities as our Graduate Sustainability Officer will include:

  • Provide technical support to the Sustainability Committee on the implementation and delivery of policies, procedures, plans and initiatives to help embed sustainability at The College
  • Contribute to the review, implementation and communication of the College's Sustainability Policy, and other sustainabilityrelated policy documents
  • Assist with the development of policies, operational control procedures and guidelines to ensure continual improvement in all areas of environmental management.
  • Provide technical support to the Sustainability Team in the implementation of the College's Carbon Management Plan and Travel Plan.
  • Contribute to the improvement of waste minimisation and recycling regimes.
  • Contribute to embedding sustainability in the curriculum
  • Work closely with the Student Union, students and staff to support the delivery of sustainability initiatives.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the Biodiversity Action Plan and prepare progress reports.
  • Coordinate implementation of Fair Trade and Sustainable Food Policies and action plans.
  • Contribute to accurate data collection, monitoring and reporting requirements across all impact areas.
  • Design and deliver sustainability awareness and engagement initiatives and events and advise staff and students on good sustainability practice.
  • Monitor and report the level of staff and student buyin to sustainability initiatives and recommend ways to improve engagement.
  • Maintain sustainability communication with internal and external stakeholders

As our
Graduate Sustainability Officer, you will need:

  • To be educated to degree level or equivalent
  • A recent Degree in a related discipline
  • Recent practical experience of awarenessraising or campaigning on sustainability issues
  • Experience of using different communication channels to reach target audiences
  • Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of sustainability issues including energy/water/carbon management, waste, transport, biodiversity, ethical procurement, social justice etc.
  • Knowledge of behaviour change techniques gained from your recent graduate experiences
