An opportunity has arisen for an Early Childhood Practitioner to join Bright Start Islington, a vibrant multiagency network of professionals supporting families with children under 5.

This is a secondment opportunity for 6 months.

As children grow they need lots of opportunities to play and explore as they become more independent and develop their skills.

Friendship and support networks help parents to manage the daily challenges of parenthood. Bright Start Islington provides high quality activities during these years. We also help parents who are starting to think about preparing for work.

We are looking for a skilled, dedicated and enthusiastic Early Childhood Practitioner who is passionate about working with the whole family to improve outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to expand their experience beyond working primarily with children.

Have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with parent/carers to support them in promoting their children's learning and development at home
Understand the importance of play in young children's development and learning

Male workers who have post qualifying experience of working with children under 5 in an early years setting

You will join a committed team offering sessions to support mums, dads and carers such as stay and play, baby massage, toy libraries and baby bounce.

We work in a multidisciplinary team which includes health visiting, speech and language therapy and family support.

The post holder will be based across a Bright Start locality area and will be required to travel across different sites to deliver services.

Contribute to the delivery and maintenance of developmentally appropriate, child centred, play-based provision for young children which provides the nurturing environment needed to promote children's emotional stability, independence, autonomy and creativity.
Foster positive relationships and close working links with the range of professionals throughout the early childhood structure in order to promote access to wider integrated services for all families and children and support a multi-disciplinary team around the child and family approach. This includes contributing to and using Early Help Assessments (EHA) and participating in Team around the Child (TAC) meetings where appropriate.
Develop and maintain a partnership with parents that value their contributions and involves them in their child's education, including support for the home learning environment.

Provide each child with appropriate care throughout the child's time in the outreach services, in partnership with their parent/carers:

Develop a strong relationship with each child and parent.
Help each child to become familiar with and confident in the setting.
Develop and maintain appropriate positive behaviour strategies with children.
Attend and participate in relevant CPD, share the knowledge and ideas gained with colleagues in the setting and lead on further development in this area if required.
Uphold the principles of good practice in inclusion and equal opportunities in all aspects of the role, supporting early identification and intervention strategies at all times.
Contribute to the development, maintenance and consistent use of systems for planning, observation, assessment and record-keeping.
Draw on the expertise of colleagues within the setting, and outside agencies to meet the needs of individual children.
Safeguard children through adherence with local and national safeguarding procedures and engagement with early identification and preventative services.
Keep up to date with best early years practice, local and national policy.
Undertake other minor and/or non-recurring duties appropriate to this post as directed by the Early Childhood Co-ordinator including working flexibly (eg. weekends and evenings).
To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.
