National up to £56,000 and London up to £60,000 per annum

A rare opportunity has come available to join the Vetting Team as a Vetting Officer. A position which has responsibility for supporting the delivery of the established FCA Security & Vetting Framework. Working in the FCA you will be part of a busy, dedicated and professional Vetting team.

This post will have individual responsibilities for supporting the Team Manager and Deputy Department Security Officer, and for making Security Vetting and Screening Check decisions.

In addition, the post holder will work with a wide range of internal and external risk and vetting staff whilst providing guidance and advice on all Personnel Security and Security Vetting matters.


The Corporate Protection & Resilience (CP&R) team is part of the new Operational Resilience department, and is specifically accountable for crisis management, business continuity management and HM Government security vetting.

The Vetting Team currently consists of four people (two full time and two part time) headed by the CP&R Manager.


What you will be doing- Proactively report into and support the team Manager to deliver an effective vetting service for FCA, whilst aligning the capability with the emerging business risk appetite- Using your familiarity with national vetting policy to make stakeholders aware of relevant changes and ensure FCA compliance- This role continually deals with sensitive personal information, so ensuring accuracy and confidentiality is critical.

You will be expected to work closely with the DDSO (Deputy Departmental Security Officer) and team Manager in making risk-based clearance decisions to identify and mitigate areas of potential harm Act as escalation point for the wider team with regard to emerging issues, and contributes to the technical leadership of the team, maintaining timely and accurate MI, being able to report regularly on our case load, pipeline and other vetting quality performance indicators

The skills and experience you'll have


Minimum- Previous end to end experience of UKSV vetting processes, requirements, and systems - in particular evidential experience of making vetting case decisions using both the UKSV Case Management System and Portal- Previous experience of working with the national vetting policy and its' expectations on firm compliance - experience (not understanding please)Essential- Good relationship management skills are essential with both our internal and external stakeholders- Excellent IT skills, including sound knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and other similar packages, and able to get up to speed quickly with new systems- Able to work on own initiative when needed, prioritising and escalating issues appropriately, taking responsibility for your own actions and working to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and confidentiality- Capable of contributing to tasks and projects sometimes of a complex nature, to support the team/key stakeholders.

Excellent spelling, grammar, and written language skills- Flexible and willing to take on new tasks and responsibilities and to adapt to changes in the vetting case lifecycle- The ability to work collectively to ensure team delivery targets are met

Desirable- Experience of making risk based vetting decisions in a regulatory environment- Awareness of other corporate functions i.e., Risk, Health & Safety and Security
