    Job Title: Level 4 Software Developer Apprentice

    What's in it for you:
    Blacklight Software is seeking a Level 4 Software Developer Apprentice to join our development team. Initially, you will follow a guided learning path to familiarize yourself with the technologies we utilize, particularly focused on Microsoft's cloud stack (Azure, Office 365). Upon completion, you will actively contribute to successful projects. Additionally, Blacklight Software will sponsor your ongoing learning under the Software Developer Apprenticeship L4 program. Working here offers a wide range of experience, coupled with regular knowledge sharing sessions, providing a fantastic opportunity to expand your skills.

    Duties:
    • Coding to meet published coding standards within a team to ensure high-quality and accurate delivery of objectives
    • Collaborating closely with team members, taking ownership of potential issues, and contributing to the team's goals
    • Designing and documenting technical aspects of software projects, including databases, business rules, and presentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and currency of documentation
    • Identifying and implementing productivity enhancements through new techniques or programming tools development for internal use
    • Assisting project managers in identifying and resolving programming defects to meet specifications
    • Deploying updates, conducting system tests, and ensuring deployment accuracy
    • Performing other tasks as assigned by the line manager or senior management at Blacklight Software

    Desired skills and qualities:
    • Enthusiastic software developer with experience in the .NET ecosystem during your L4 apprenticeship
    • Passion for writing software, delivering high-quality, tested, scalable, and maintainable code
    • Adaptability to work on diverse projects with various technologies
    • Desire to learn and share knowledge

    Entry requirements:
    Applicants must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or an equivalent qualification from another training provider, or possess an A-level in a STEM subject with a successful completion of the aptitude test, or hold a BTEC Diploma in IT with a successful completion of the aptitude test, or possess 2 years of relevant experience and successful completion of the aptitude test. A combination of qualifications and experience demonstrating the minimum foundation may also be considered.

    Salary:
    • Onboarding and Initial Training: 3 months (stage 1) Starting Salary of £16k
    • Further Training: 3 months (stage 2) Salary of £18k
    • Gaining Experience: 12 months (stage 3) Salary of £20k

    End Position: Salary of £25k


    Working week: 37.5 hours per week
