Are you immediately available and looking for an exciting project in Procurement?

This is an interim requirement for approx 3 months but it is likely to be extended.

You will be covering Supply Chain and Materials procurement (including merchant stock management), Service procurement and Works procurement.


As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for supply chain material contracts and subcontract works contracts, maximising value for money, process efficiency and efficient material purchases.

The role is responsible for sourcing new suppliers, monitorthe latest market innovations, develop and maintain good relationships with both suppliers/contractors and internal clients, negotiating pricing, ethical sourcing of materials and sub contract services and ensuring the supply chain activities adhere to relevantregulations and the values of the company.


Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Ensure that there is a concise and consistent approach across the business to management of procurement contracts.
  • Lead and be a driver on ensuring that as a business all areas as mentioned are at the best that they can be in moving forward.
  • Ensure the Procurement system is implemented within the function.
  • Specify material contract and contractor requirements.
  • Effectively manage all areas of Material Supply Chain including preparation of contract requirements, mobilisation of project plans for supply chain contracts.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Manager to prepare tender documents for IMS contracts.
  • Lead on evaluation of contracts as required.
  • Act as the lead officer and contracts manager for negotiations with suppliers and supply chain contracts, seeking to resolve supply contract disputes
  • Act as the project manager for developing and implementing partnering arrangements.
  • To implement and manage electronic purchasing, purchasing cards, manage paperless invoicing and goods delivery systems.
  • Liaise with Finance to effectively manage the supplier invoicing, including timeliness.
  • Prepare contract requirements and specifications for contractors.
  • Liaise with the relevant managers to prepare mobilisation project plans for supply chain contracts.
  • Oversee the tender process for contractors in liaison with relevant manager including the evaluation of PPQs and preparation of a shortlist for tendering.
  • For specific contractors; in liaison with the Procurement Manager to prepare tender documents for contracts. Leading on the evaluation of contracts.
  • Manage the reporting on a daily/weekly/monthly basis of all material costs and savings in relation to the business.
  • Report on contractor usage and turnover.; Report on contractor performance in relation to invoicing and disputes.
  • Liaise with the relevant manager to define the scope of, and to agree standards and specifications contractors.
  • Process map procurement and purchasing functions preparing procedure manuals in liaison with operational requirements.
  • Engage with all trades ensuring that they have a clear understanding of purchasing procedures and purchasing card systems.
