Pay Details:
Grade 6 - £25,409 pro rota

Hours of Work /

Working Pattern:

the hours will be variable across the year - there is an expectation of part-time hours during term time, with increased hours in the lead up to and during school holidays.

37 hours per week during school holidays and one week prior to school holidays (except for Christmas break)
12 hours per week for all other weeks

Main Place of Work:
Various locations both indoors and outdoors across the Vale of Glamorgan

Temporary Reason:
temporary position for up to 1 year to cover maternity leave.


Description:


We are seeking an energetic person to plan and oversee the safe organisation and delivery of play activities within play schemes, play projects and indoor and outdoor events.

You will lead a team of playworkers, organising staff timetable and duties to ensure staff work effectively. You will undertake organisational duties prior to and during play schemes / events.


You will require the knowledge and confidence to deal with issues that may arise during provision and ensure the play provision is delivered in accordance with legislative requirements, including Care Inspectorate Wales and health and safety regulations.


You will be responsible for ensuring the collection and collation of information such as registration forms, participation registers and daily logs to meet legislative requirements and successfully evaluate the project.

The willingness to work in indoor and outdoor settings across the Vale in all weather conditions is essential as we do not let wet weather stop children having fun


About you

You will need:

  • Level 3 qualification in Playwork or equivalent related qualification as identified on the Skills Active framework (or current enrolment on a Level 3 playwork course and completion within 12 months).
  • Safeguarding Training
  • At least two years' experience of working with children in a play environment
  • At least 2 years experience of working with children with additional support needs in a play environment
  • Experience of working within the legislative guidelines of play and playwork
  • Experience of carrying out risk assessments
  • Experience of working with other agencies in partnership to enhance the children's play opportunities.
  • Experience of collating statistical information and working with office systems
  • Experience of leading a team and supporting staff
  • To have knowledge and experience of appropriately handling and dealing with sensitive information.
  • Experience of leading, planning and setting up play spaces and opportunities
