- Must have a first degree
- Post-graduate qualification or relevant equivalent experience
- Masters Degree or equivalent professional qualification with a strong understanding of program management practices, backed by evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
- Prior experience in a large NHS or private healthcare institution, particularly on projects involving clinical staff and operational changes
- Demonstrated success in direct and matrix management of staff from various departments, including budget management and setting
- Experience in academic grant funding bids and international collaborations
- Ability to make sound decisions autonomously in a professional manner
- Skilled in negotiation and influencing positively, with strong organizational skills and effective leadership qualities
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels
- Proficient in workshop facilitation and a proven track record of successful project delivery
- Specialization in Lean, Six Sigma, BPR, or Systems Thinking is a bonus
- Self-motivated, proactive, and a team player with a professional demeanor
- Ability to maintain a positive working environment and willingness to travel regularly within the UK and occasionally abroad

About the Job:
The selected candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Directors of Research & Innovation and Education by spearheading the implementation of the combined research and education strategy. This includes ensuring the timely provision of comprehensive assurance reports to the Directors.
The main responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the implementation of supporting strategies in line with the Trust Strategic Plan
- Assisting in executing the Manchester Cancer Research Centre strategy for integrated research and education, in partnership with the University of Manchester and CRUK
- Coordinating and aiding in the submission of strategic funding proposals
- Supporting the implementation of relevant integrated research and education components of the Christie International programme
- Acting as a stand-in when necessary for the Directors of Research & Innovation and Education
To successfully deliver the Trust's Strategic Plan, the Associate Director will need to actively engage with multiple strategic partners and successfully manage complex, significant business developments.
