Our Minworth site are now recruiting for a Transport Supervisor on a full time permanent basis.
Salary**:
£28,665 per annum,
Working hours: 4 on 4 off days (06:00-18:00).
Job Description:
The purpose of a
Transport Supervisor is to be responsible for the 24/7 Transport operations, managing the Transport Supervisors and supporting the Transport Manager in ensuring that costs are controlled in line with budget / forecast expectations.
Key Duties of a Transport Supervisor:
- Communicating with Transport Manager and Transport Planning Teams to maximise backloads, identifying cost saving opportunities, trailer utilisation and cost efficiency.
- Ensuring effective planning and utilisation of drivers and subcontract haulage for deliveries out of multiple warehousing sites.
- Responsible for building and maintaining a good working relationship with team members, vendors, hauliers and partners.
- Liaising with the GBD traffic and administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.
- Reporting problems and dealing with any issues/queries that may arise.
- Daily communication with operational teams, vendors and customers regarding network/route plan changes.
- Continual improvement for cost reductions, identifying where cost can be saved from tactical route changes.
Qualifications:
- Have previous transport and office experience and be able to demonstrate a high level of transport knowledge and expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
- Experience of transport policy and strategy development along with experience in master planning and a good knowledge of transportation and planning systems.
- CPC National desirable but not essential.
- Attention to detail/accuracy.
- Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy.
- Negotiating skills, ability to influence and steer.
- Adaptable and methodical approach to work/training.
- Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages.
