About the Opportunity:


The role will have responsibility for driving a global data management strategy and governance function to manage and improve data.

The Head of Data serves as the lead for the data management strategy, standards development and data across business linesin partnership with Group Head of D&A Strategy and the Divisional CDO's.

This role defines and enables scalable, cost efficient management and delivery of data access and provision of Management Information to business partners and analytic leads partneringto align Group support with divisional execution.


Key Aspects of the Role & Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with business leaders to define business needs and identify opportunities to enhance and support organizational growth, mitigate risk and adhere to executive level requirements and expectations.
  • Successful delivery of the data, analytics and MI strategy through the organization in partnership with divisional CDO's
  • Deep understanding of the organizational environment and strategic goals.
  • Develop a clear vision, plan and structure for the team
  • Guide the evolution of the Community of Practice across the Group for Data Management.
  • Ensure optimal
- sharing of best practice and a minimum standard of performance, governance and consistency.

  • Devise and implement the appropriate lighttouch but effective level of central support required for this purpose.
  • Develop a clear risk appetite along with the data management controls and minimum standards in partnership with Group Head of Organisational Execution
  • Sponsor, in collaboration with Group Head of Data Architecture, the design and delivery of data platforms tools and services, to support and enable enterprise data management strategy, aligned with business value.
  • Assess and where necessary reset data platform strategy and assets to improve alignment and to enable and accelerate Data access and exchange.
  • Oversee crossfunctional data governance ensuring adoption and adherence to appropriate data stewardship and quality standards enterprise wide in line with group data management policy.
  • Create and manage data policies, standards and procedures by building an understanding of data management strategy and objectives to identify and capitalize on strengths and opportunities.
  • Enable enterprise data to be available, reliable, consistent, accessible, secure and timely to support the mission and activities of the organization.
  • Establish an appropriate organizational capability for provision of MI enterprise wise, alongside Finance FP&A and Actuarial.
  • Develop master data management approaches and implement in partnership with Technology Services & the Divisional CDOs.
  • Drive efficiencies and enterprise data maturity through automation and process improvements.
  • Build and manage supporting Global Shared Services Centre data capabilities, including potential new data shared services where appropriate.
  • Prioritize, select and lead key data initiatives and data platform build to enable operational and analytic data capabilities in line with agreed governance and in partnership with the group head of strategy and transformation.
  • Partner with Analytic Heads, Finance, Actuarial, IT and Project Management Office to support business needs.
  • Work with Compliance, Risk, Technology Services, Audit and functional and divisional Data Owners to ensure Divisional and Group regulatory requirements with respect to data are met and verified to be compliant.
  • Promote excellence through the attraction, continual development and retention of high quality workforce with the knowledge, skills and behaviors to deliver excellent operational outcomes and service.
  • Empowering and inspiring others with the challenges of global / matrix management and the need to bring together people

Experience Required:


  • Experience of working strategically with senior stakeholders across large global corporations.
  • Extensive operational management experience in senior level role.
  • Strong experience in leading and inspiring large teams at strategic and operational levels across
multiple locations.

  • Significant experience within an appropriate operational or technical discipline.
  • Knowledge of business processes relating to data and MI
  • Thorough understanding of relevant market and influential factors
  • Financial understanding to assess risk on a profitable basis
  • Knowledge of industry trends as their pertain to data science, analytics management, governance &
MI.
