What does this Care Assistant job involve?

Assist people who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and toilet.
Help people with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence; help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of people through talking to them, taking them out, and sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
Make and change beds; tidy rooms and do light cleaning.
Assist people at mealtimes if required; wash up utensils.
Answer emergency bells, the door and the telephone;
Read and write reports in care plans.
Take part in staff meetings and also in training activities as directed.
Carry out other reasonable duties as may be required.

Am I the right person for this Care Assistant job?

Experience in caring for elderly people and people living with dementia is ideal but not essential
Training can be given onsite
A person with a patient attitude who is willing to learn
A willingness to put the residents and each other first (and the selfsacrifice that might be needed)
Respectful recognising the preferred lifestyle of the Residents and the Christian ethos of the Homes
Compassionate understanding each other and being supportive and kind when difficulties and challenges are faced

About the Company
We are a small residential home, run by a Christian charity. We aspire to maintain an ethos of openness, thoroughness, honesty and integrity, enthusiasm respect & support.

An important aspect of the life of our Homes is the need to provide a spiritual as well as homelike atmosphere for like-minded people.

In line with this ethos there are morning and evening Bible readings and prayer taken by male members of local Gospel StandardChapels, or when able, male residents.

The types of service we offer are; permanent residency, short stays for holidays or respite, and daycare.

In every case a detailed care plan is prepared with the resident to ensure that a personalised service suitable to their needs is provided.

This isthen regularly reviewed to ensure that changing requirements are met.
