    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Oncology Service as an Acute Oncology Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP). Applicants must have completed their Msc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

    We are seeking two committed, dynamic, motivated individuals to provide clinical assessment and treatment to a diverse caseload of oncology patients. The ACPs will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills maintaining collaboration between multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidates must demonstrate an aptitude for working autonomously. Your work will encompass assessing patient's needs when admitted as an emergency and provide specialist support and advice on the management of acutely unwell oncology patients.

    The post holders will provide evidence based care, ensuring this is disseminated throughout clinical areas, remaining approachable and act as a role model.

    Main duties of the job
    • You will be expected to reflect the four pillars of advanced practice: Clinical Practice, Leadership, Education of self and others, and Research & Development.
    • Work to a high level of personal and professional autonomy, using specialist knowledge and skills to deliver independent assessment, clinical examination, diagnosis, clinical decision making and planning of care and treatment, health promotion and safe admission and discharge of patients. This may include:-
    • on-call/out-of-hours and in-hours/bleep-holding responsibilities, as part of the agreed job plan.
    • Act as an independent non-medical prescriber, where applicable to role/profession
    • Work collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to provide best clinical care, emotional and psychological support and education to patients and their carers.
    • Facilitate evidence based practice, and promote and undertake research and clinical audit within the service and across the Trust. Design and provide clinical/practical and theory-based education and training, eg. to nurses/AHPs, junior medical staff
    • Work with innovation and flexibility to adapt to a fast-changing specialty, and play an integral role in the operational/strategic development of the service.

    • NMC / HCPC registered professional
    • Relevant MSc, supplemented by specialist training, experience and short courses
    • Completed advanced clinical practice MSc
    • Advanced assessment skills qualification with evidence of clinical practice
    • Higher level qualification in accredited course (e.g. ALS/ATLS)
    Desirable
    • Teaching qualification
    Knowledge and Experience Essential
    • Previous leadership experience
    • Significant post registration experience in Oncology- to the level of advanced practice
    • Acknowledged expert in their field who is clinically credible
    • Experience of conducting audit/research and implementing innovative practices
    Desirable
    • Experience of disseminating work through presentation/publication
