Description

Hackney Council's award-winning communications team is seeking a communications officer to promote and support some of the most important work we undertake for residents.

This post will lead communications for a wide-range of projects and initiatives, including delivering campaigns to support women's and girls' safety in the borough's thriving night spots; raising residents' awareness of training and employment opportunities available to them; and helping change behaviours to encourage people in Hackney to live healthier, fairer, greener and safer lives.

You will have a passion for creating, writing, planning and problem-solving.

You will understand the power of words to influence, persuade and inform; you will be an expert in imaginative and innovative marketing techniques and communications strategies; and will be able to deliver outstanding, integrated communications campaigns and plans on time, and within budget.

You will work quickly and accurately under pressure, creating and delivering communications content across multi-media channels; and you will provide informed and robust public relations and reputation-management advice to senior leaders in a fast-paced working environment.

You'll be used to juggling multiple projects and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve your communications objectives.

A good understanding of local government or working in a political organisation is preferable, but it doesn't matter if that's not your background - it matters that you're passionate about public service.

Face to face interviews will be held for this role at Hackney Town Hall.

The recruitment process is anonymous. Therefore, we do not accept supporting statements or CVs.

Interview date: 10 /11 August 2023

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved.

In order to achieve this, we look for people who are:
Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.
