Description
Nelson House is a modern and spacious 28 bed locked rehabilitation recovery service for men with mental illness.

By having a focus on the development of skills for independence the unit provides a positive step for patients, many whose next step will be living in the community.

It helps patients learn new ways of managing their conditions and symptoms with the aim of helping to prevent any future relapse.

For patients with challenging behaviours, Nelson House helps them to learn skills to change their response to anxiety and distress.

We are also embarking on a piece of work to get AIMS Rehab accreditation.


Purpose of the role:
Priory Nelson House Hospital are recruiting for Recovery Support Workers. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and passionate people to become an integral part of our healthcare team.

In this role, you will become one of the first lines of support for our service users and be responsible for providing compassionate care during their time with us.


As part of the role, you will be responsible for providing a high quality recovery based service with the focus on enabling our patient group to gain the skills and independence to move back to the community.

You will work under the supervision of our Senior Recovery Support Workers and Nursing team, providing individualised care to our patient group.


The Role of Recovery Support Worker can be rewarding and challenging with the ultimate goal of making a real and lasting difference in people's lives.


Role requirements:
Care Certificate desirable

Shift times are Day shifts :30 and Night shifts/ :30


Skills & Knowledge:
Healthcare Certificate desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health issues
  • IT literate
  • Basic knowledge of the principle of clinical governance
  • Basic understanding of the CPA process
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of issues relating to clinical specific settings

Experience:


  • Experience of working with service users in a mental health setting, acute, PICU or rehabilitation.
Personal skills


Resilience - This is a role working with vulnerable people who can have varying degrees of mental health difficulties or a learning disability, so there will be days when it may be challenging.

This is why we have a strong team ethos throughout our services.


Excellent Communication Skills - Communicating with service users, their families, visitors and colleagues is a core element of the role.

Being able to understand the needs of the patients, demonstrating kindness, compassion, reassurance and having the ability to relay information are also key for this position.


Organisational Skills -You'll need to be able to organise and detailed in your approach and be able to priorities work effectively.


Care and Compassion - Our service users require the best care and compassion we can offer, if you are a naturally caring person, this is a role for you.
